Bridgestone partners Microsoft on intelligent tyre monitoring system
Bridgestone has collaborated with Microsoft in the development of a new monitoring system for the real-time detection of tyre damage. The UK’s Department for Transport 2018 statistics show tyre issues contribute to 30 per cent of all car accidents caused by technical failure. Bridgestone says its Tyre Damage Monitoring System is the “final piece in tracking tyre issues.” The system offers similar applications to recent market solutions that process live data using algorithms to predict the effects of tyre damage and notify drivers, fleet operators and service providers. What separates it from existing systems is that no additional hardware need be installed, the manufacturer adds.

Metzeler launches Racetec TD Slick motorcycle racing tyre
Metzeler has added the Racetec TD Slick to its racing tyre range, after unveiling the new tyre at EICMA in November. The new model is designed for motorcyclists and club racers for both competition and training. As such it has been manufactured primarily for ease of use. It does not require tyre warmers and does not require a particular bike set-up. It is also designed for consistent performance over multiple sessions, versatility on different asphalt types and operating temperatures, and high abrasion resistance. The rear tyre can also be reversed between sessions, useful on circuits which wear tyres more on one side.
Two awards for Continental dandelion rubber bicycle tyres

Continental has released a new combine harvester tyre, its first with a single filament bead core. In order to make the tyre safer and reduce slippage on the wheel, the manufacturer has designed a new bead construction for the the CombineMaster. In addition to road safety, reducing slippage also helps to reduce soil compaction – one of the most important considerations for agricultural tyre suppliers. By reducing compaction, the new tyre helps to protect the fissures in the soil that promote healthy growth. This increases the yield potential in the field. The tyre is the latest in Conti's line of "Master" agricultural products. Conti has recently developed its agricultural tyre business with a 10-year guarantee and very high flexion (VF) fitment options.
